ALWAR: A 40-year-old self-styled ‘tantrik’ was shot dead outside a temple in Alwar’s Bhiwadi area by a youth who alleged that the ‘tantrik’ had molested his sisters and harassing their family.

Chandrapal Yadav, a resident of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, was shot dead while he was stepping outside Mohanram temple, the devotees overpowered the shooter identified as Sumit Gurjar (20) and informed the police.

Gurjar was taken to the police station where he alleged that Yadav had molested her four sisters on the pretext of treating them. He had found Yadav molesting his sisters and decided to punish the Yadav.

He also informed the police that it was because Yadav that his sisters could not get married and the family was subjected to humiliation by the villagers and the family. ‘Every time the date of the wedding was being finalized, Yadav would intervene and would ask his parents that time is not right,” he said to police.

Yadav was a resident of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh where he had an ashram. “The accused has alleged that he was frustrated with the ‘tantrik’ as he had controlled the mind of his mother and sisters,” said an official.

Sumit Gurjar is a student of BA second year and several tiffs with the tantrik. He had also made several attempts to prevent Yadav from visiting their house. After shooting Yadav, the devotees overpowered him and rushed him to the police station.

The police handed over the body of Yadav after the post mortem and have arrested Gurjar in connection with the murder of the ‘tantrik’.

The latest incident comes on the heels of an elderly godman arrested by the Alwar police after 21-year-old lawyer alleged that she was raped by ‘godman’ identified as Swami Kaushlendra Prapannachari Falahari Maharaj. He was arrested by the police from the hospital.
